As a side note, the long wires must be insulated where they cross!

I made this today, using 10 gauge copper wire instead of coat hangers. WOW, i was not able to get my local fox station, who has not gone full signal strength yet as they are still working on their tower, but now switching to this homemade antenna I can! I'm thrilled!!! I was using a store bought outdoor antenna and 15db amp in the attic, have now switched to this antenna and the amp and it not only got me my missing station, but improved the other signals!!!

I did have to direct this antenna set up to get a signal as this would be more less a more sophisticated rabbit ear system. With an amplifier/booster though it should be able to pick up from any direction. Though I may study the design better too and figure out any kinks. Though if you make this antenna you will be amazed!

This design does work but its not flawless. I built mine using this design though used copper wire and instead of having a male transformer I just used a female transformer with a male coupler. I will say though it does get better signal then my old pair of rabbit ears. I hit 70 to 71% signal which isn't bad. I'd say the way i built it was was easily less than 10 bucks and soon I'll add a uhf/vhf booster to the set up and I'll have a pretty good antenna! Continued...

I just built one of these but I used brass wire instead of coat hangers and it is amazing. I live in South Florida I get about 70 channels with the most important one in amazing HD. Thanks, this is awesome!

I made one of these with K'NEX instead of wood, washers, and screws. It works pretty well.

Yes, they are about $5 at radioshack or walmart.
